Toney Hillary
Toney Hillary is a native of Jamaica, born in Montego Bay.
Toney drew the birds while attending the University of Colorado for his Master’s thesis. The drawings were used to assist as an Ornithology (Study of birds) Field Guide. The birds were donated in 2019 to the Natural History Museum of Jamaica in Kingston, where they remain in their possession.
The artist has traveled the world but now resides in Houston, Texas. His ability to capture the detail, characteristics and environment of these birds is a God given gift. These birds are unique to the island of Jamaica with special characteristics for the niches in which they are found. Now, after 40 years the artist has decided to share the prints with the world.
